Nursery Spotlight – Les Serres Clermont

This time for our nursery spotlight, we (Amanda and Stephanie) made our way to check out Les Serres Clermont in Saint-Lazare. Amanda was last there in early May, when the greenhouses were busting at the seams with tons of annuals and hanging baskets… but as we walked through the shop into the greenhouse, we were surprised to see that it was a teensy bit… barren! We clearly missed the memo that you need to get here EARLY (and this was only June 8) to take advantage of all the annuals! Well, now we know for next year.

We headed outside next to check out the vegetables and perennials and we definitely came across some gems! I’ve heard that Clermont’s prices are good, and this was definitely confirmed! They had 3ft tall tomato plants (with fruit!) for $12, gorgeous good-sized shrubs such as Weigela for $20, Barberries and Philadelphus for only $12, and a wide range of other plants that all looked healthy and beautiful for less than $10. There was a nice selection of trees also. One that stood out was the “Harlequin Maple” with variegated leaves which is something we both hadn’t seen before.

The gentleman who rang up our purchases said he is expecting a big order of perennials to come in any day. We highly recommend you go to check out Clermont and remember to bring your Hudson Garden Club membership card to save 10%!
